The annual Australian Innovation Festival was established to showcase the importance of innovation in driving future prosperity for all industries, and achieve a culture of innovation for the benefit of all Australians. There are 600 events in this year’s Festival, which runs from 26 April to 30 May 2008.

 

Highlighted Events:

Australian Capital Territory

ACT Launch – 13 May, Canberra Glassworks, Kingston

Keynote speakers included Mr. Jon Stanhope, ACT Chief Minister, Dr. Jari Kuusisto, a highly respected expect on innovation in services from Finland and the MC was Peter Westfield, Festival Chair.

Jon Stanhope emphasised the strengths of Canberra’s service based economy and the importance of innovation in building world class clusters. He also spoke about a number of innovation initiatives as outlined in the ACT May 2008 Budget which are designed to increase the capacity of the ACT economy.

 

New South Wales
2007/08 DuPont Innovation Awards: 16 May 2008 - Sofitel Wentworth, Sydney

David Archibald a Perth-based scientist predicts that the Earth's atmosphere will cool by 2.0 degrees next decade due to solar effects and that increased atmospheric carbon dioxide is wholly beneficial.
