5 Days of Innovation - Tasmania’s inaugural innovation festival

5 Days of Innovation festival will be held from Tuesday 18th May to Saturday 22nd May in Northern Tasmania, and will be a part of the National Innovation Month activities.

Championed by local ICT and small business advocate Darren Alexander, the 5 Days of Innovation festival aims to shine a light on the Northern Tasmanian region, celebrating innovation in the community, and further assisting to increase awareness of innovative Tasmanian products, and foster and encourage innovative practice in Tasmanian business to ensure the continued growth of Northern Tasmanian business across markets.

Darren’s vision was to engage key stakeholders, University of Tasmania, Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts, Launceston Chamber of Commerce and Launceston City Council together with private enterprise to collaborate and work together to shine a light on innovation in Northern Tasmania.

“As an entrepreneur, innovation has proven to be a key pillar of my company, Autech’s international success, and it is due to this, that I wanted other Northern Tasmanian companies to share in innovation and understand just how important innovation can be in their business, not to mention the greater community”.

“It is also important to recognise our current innovative Northern Tasmanian businesses and again highlight why innovation is one of 5 keys to business success.” said Mr Alexander.

The concept was launched in May 2009 by the Premier David Bartlett with over 100 guests in attendance.

The Innovation program will explore the uniqueness of Tasmanian entrepreneurship across industries, presenting local success stories, products and services from Northern Tasmania’s finest business talent.

A program of events has been completed and includes open days at local innovative businesses, a great debate, a food trail tour and 5 Plates of innovation degustation dinner amongst a range other of great events.
