Bendigo man wins Inventor of the Year

Bendigo man Terry Hunter has won the title of the inaugural Bendigo Inventor of the Year and a $10,000 cash prize.

Mr Hunter was awarded the honour at a ceremony on Friday night for his gluten-free dough recipe.

The City of Greater Bendigo's Peter Jeffrey says the organisers have been surprised by the level of interest in the event, receiving 127 entries - almost double the expected amount.

But he says historically, central Victorians have always been inventive people.
"I think the event has been such a success, predominantly because central Victoria is known as being an inventive and innovative area," he said.

"It's recognised not only from all levels of government, from federal, state and the local sector, but also from private industry."
