- Shane beat the odds to become the first ever Australian player to be signed to the NBA from the Australian League and on retirement went into business. Shane built up a large business through fast food franchising, having opened more than 30 stores across 6 different brands. His companies also developed property and did the store fit outs and he employed over 350 people at the company's peak in 2010. His business however took a major turn when his company was severely affected by the collapse of an ASX listed company in which Shane had bought a 10 year contract .
